The purpose of the Haralson Sheriff Foundation Community Scholarship is to provide funding for Haralson County student-residents (Bremen High School & Haralson County High School) in their pursuit of furthering their education in the prospective field of Criminal Justice. This field of study includes but is not limited to the following areas: 

1) Law Enforcement 

2) Corrections 

3) Forensic Science 

4) Business Administration 

This scholarship is designed to enable students who want a career in Criminal Justice. Two students in total will be chosen from the two high schools (one from each school) in our county for this scholarship and each scholarship will be in the amount of $3000.00. 

Eligibility 

Applicants must be a resident of Haralson County for a minimum of six months prior to the application deadline. 

Applicants must currently be high school seniors or enrolled in college programs, where they have attained freshman status. 

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. 

Application and Selection 

Applicant must: 

• Submit a completed scholarship application form from the school by Monday, April 21st, 2025. (Essay questions below) 

• Be available for an interview with the Haralson Sheriff Foundation Community Scholarship Committee if requested. 

Candidate selection will be made by the Haralson Sheriff Foundation Community Scholarship Committee with awards announced on May 14th, 2025. 

 At the discretion of the Haralson Sheriff Foundation Community Scholarship Committee, recipients may be asked to attend and participate in community policing annual events. 

Awards 

Up to two $3,000.00 scholarships may be awarded each year, one at each high school (Bremen High School & Haralson County High School). 

Scholarships will be awarded directly to the college and/or university in the recipient's name. 

Essay Questions 

Here are three essay style questions for the scholarship application. For each question, please write a short essay that consists of a minimum of 150 words and no more than 250 words: 

1. What inspired you to pursue a Criminal Justice Degree, and how do you envision using this education to contribute positively to law enforcement or the justice system? 

2. Can you share a specific experience or accomplishment that demonstrates your commitment to community service or public safety? 

3. How will receiving this scholarship support your academic and career goals, and what impact do you hope to have on the field of criminal justice?
